You will realize the importance of writing and reading daily as you go through it daily.
Since I started my writing habit last year, I often received messages from people asking me how I do it, or they also want to start writing, but they don’t know where to start, or they don’t have the time to think of content that they want to write.
Looking back those are the same sentiments that I had until I learned to develop the habit of writing and to read every morning.

Moreover, it’s the same thing that I’ve been telling over and over again. I’ve said that if you want to learn how to write, you should work on it every day. That’s it. I started with 5-minutes every day until it became 500 words regularly.
However, the conversation would then proceed to:
– What should I write?
– My grammar might be wrong.
– They might take it out of context?
– What if I say something wrong?
These and many other reasons are the same limiting beliefs that I have heard personally from friends and fellow freelancers who want to level up their skills.
If you agree with me right now, and at this point nodding your head, because these are the same sentiments that you have, then fear not, I started with the same mindset too. However, I was able to overcome it, and I believe you can do it also.
Last year, I made a decision, I committed to starting writing for 5-minutes when I get up in the morning and complete my words before doing anything else.
At first, I struggled with consistency, but by consistently reminding myself that I need to do this because I need to get better my writing output has skyrocketed.
Morning Rituals That Will Transform Your Freelance Career
1. Write daily
Upon waking up, and drinking a glass of water, my first task is to grab my notebook and pen and write for 5 minutes. I started with three sentences about random things or topics that I could think. That’s it. Consistency is the key. It’s unrealistic to immediately believe that you can finish up with 1,000 words a day. It is better to start and commit to three sentences, or a single paragraph daily! The key is to create a habit.
It’s going to be hard at first. I miserably failed when I was starting too. However, the key to developing consistency is that you will write whether you feel like writing or not.
2. Read daily
Yes, reading is also a must if you want to develop your writing skills.
Admit it, how many hours did you spend on reading a book last week? I used to ignore hardbound books and believe that all the information that I need is available online until I found out that reading is as vital in our chosen career.
Reading fills your mind with the appropriate information, and it exposes you to new words, phrases, and a lot of other mental benefits. I also read it out loud so I could practice English speaking. Yes, for those of you who say that they’re having a hard time communicating in English. Then this is the best exercise for you. Reading in the morning is like your mental workout.
Start by reading a page and then gradually increase over time. Like writing, our goal is to develop a habit. Don’t force yourself to finish the entire chapter or book in one sitting.
The combination of these habits, writing and reading, will undoubtedly improve your communication skills. The more you read and write, the more you can articulate your ideas and concepts accurately and effectively to others. That’s the importance of reading and writing daily.
